Urban Designer (German speaking)

Our Urban Unit is expanding! We're looking for a talented Urban Designer to join our team in Amsterdam. German language is a plus!

As an international architectural firm, UNStudio is active in the broadest fields of architecture and urban design. Our project portfolio covers every aspect of design, ranging from small to large-scale projects, research and theory. The atmosphere within each of our offices is international, multidisciplinary and ambitious, but also open, non-hierarchical, team-based and friendly, with attention to personal well-being, knowledge development and career planning.

For our expanding work in Germany, we are looking for a German speaking Urban Designer to join our Amsterdam office who will participate as a full team member in our Urban Unit. We expect our designer to provide both creative input and solid work production. Tasks include urban scale research and analysis, design tasks on multiple scales, communication and visualisation of ideas.

At least 2-3 year experience is a must.

German speaking and German experience a plus. The position is open from April 01, 2023.

The Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in a design discipline (Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture);
  • 1-2 years of post- master experience in a design discipline (Urban Design, Architecture, Landscape Architecture)
  • Understanding of various urban systems and ability to coordinate disciplines including transportation, landscaping, environmental engineering, technology and social integration;
  • Understanding of land use programming, building, open space and planning typologies;
  • Exhibit a stellar design approach and talent
  • We are looking for a strong designer who can bridge the urban scale with an architectural representation;
  • Exhibit affinity with UNStudio’s design philosophy and approach to projects;
  • Self-motivated and able to take responsibility;
  • Able to demonstrate initiative and a proactive approach;
  • Able to work as part of an effective team assisting and supporting team members;
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D software (Rhino, AutoCAD, Adobe Suite, PowerPoint, Microsoft package. GIS knowledge is a plus);
  • Fluent English and Dutch communication skills.
